About the Journal

The VDR journal is a platform covering all areas of conservation and restoration, offering professional exchange of ideas on a national and international level. The journal has been published by the German Association of Conservators, Verband der Restaurator:innen, since 2003.

The journal is published twice a year as an online journal in open access. The papers are mainly written by conservators, but experts from related scientific disciplines are also invited to publish. All authors share an interest in the conservation and research of historical artefacts and techniques. Reviews of relevant publications in the field conclude the issues.

The voluntary editorial staff of different specializations stands for the consistently high level of quality. They are supported by the publication representatives of the VDR specialist groups and the scientific advisory board.
