Coptic nålebinding textiles in the Museum of Cultures in Bâle
The Museum of Cultures in Bâle houses a large collection of Coptic textiles. There are 24 pieces, mostly socks, made in the Nålebinding technique. This technique is briefly explained. An analysis of the various kinds of stitches is given and their wide spectrum is compared to that known from northern Europe.
