To Gaze at the Ethnographic

Abstract

The contributors to this issue look at the ethnographic as it emerges in the history and practice of contemporary art, in museums, and in the struggles of heritage communities. Through artistic, curatorial, and writing practices, they bring ethnographic collections, heritage communities, and art contexts into relation and explore ways of transforming the ethnographic gaze and orienting it toward collaborative and reparative aims.
