In defense of Józef Brandt
In connection with the article by Irena Olchowska-Schmidt (“Quart” 2019, no. 1), the author proves that the painting from the 295th auction of the Neumeister Gallery is not a painting by Johann Gualbert Raffalt from 1864, but an inaccurate copy (paraphrase) of Jozef Brandt’s Welcome to the Steppe (1874).
