Recommended Citation
As one of the earliest online journals in art history, RIHA Journal sought to rethink publishing as a genuinely digital practice. For this reason, we opted to publish articles on a rolling basis; consequently, each article was assigned its own article number. Beginning in 2026, however, we are adopting the issue-based structure inherited from print publishing in order to ensure continued compatibility with metadata harvesting, indexing, and citation systems. We therefore recommend citing RIHA Journal articles as follows:
RIHA Journal articles cited by article number (through 2025):
Rachel E. Perry, "Painting in Danger: Jean Dubuffet’s Hautes Pâtes", RIHA Journal 0221 (30 August 2019), DOI: https://doi.org/10.11588/riha.2019.0.69974 (accessed Day, Month, Year).
RIHA Journal articles cited by volume and issue number (from 2026 onward):
Pavla Langer, "'L’Aquila, magnifica citade': Fashioning a Center of Franciscan Observance in the Abruzzo Region", in: RIHA Journal 17, 2 (2026), DOI: https://doi.org/10.11588/riha.2026.2.107574 (accessed Day, Month, Year).
